Sago Palm - Cycas revoluta

Other common names:

Size (HXW): 10 Ft X 4 Ft

USDA Hardiness zones: 9-11

Sun requirement: Part sun to part shade. They will do ok in full sun (coastal areas) but are susceptible to root rot in full shade. If left in full sun during the summer the sago will yellow, this usually corrects itself in the winter.

Water requirement: Regular water, let the soil dry out between waterings.

Plant description: Technically this is not a palm tree but most think of it as one. It is really a cycad, a type of plant that has been around since the prehistoric ages. Sago palms are the most popular cycads in the world. They are hardy to about 20 degrees F.

Similar suggested plants: Pygmy Date Palm

Bloom period: Only mature sago will bloom, cream stalks in the summer.

Planting and growing information: Plant in sandy, well-draining soil.
