Plant description: The blue palo verde is the state tree of Arizona. It acts as a nurse plant for the saguaro, providing shade and moisture for the cactus which will eventually outlive the host palo verde. It is hardy to 10 degrees F.
The blue palo verde provides an open structure with blue/green bark that litters from seed capsules. The tree provides a home to birds as well.

Planting and growing information: Plant in full sun in well-draining soil. Water regularly until established but do not let it stand in water, it will rot. Once it's 2-3 years old only water when very dry.
